We help provide Aboriginal children with a positive sense of self, a desire for learning, and opportunities to develop as successful young people.

AHS prepares Aboriginal children for their school years by supporting their spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical growth.

Parents, guardians and extended family are supported as the child's first and most influential teachers, and the wisdom of elders is valued.

Our projects are locally designed, locally controlled, and administered by non-profit Aboriginal organizations.

Aboriginal Head Start directly involves parents and the community in the management and operation of projects.

St. Laurent Aboriginal Head Start Program is a non-profit charitable organisation, started March 18, 2004. It is governed by a board of Directors. Our program is attached to the St. Laurent Recreation Centre. We provide service to the R.M of St. Laurent, town of Oak Point, town of St. Ambroise and town of Lake Francis.

St. Laurent Aboriginal Head Start Program focuses on improving the quality of life for aboriginal families through provisions of positive, contemporary and traditional teachings. Our program focuses on successful transition into kindergarten and elementary levels of education, and also provides community members with information and teachings that will enhance their aboriginal pride.
