Flin Flon Sweetgrass Aboriginal Head Start
Flin Flon Sweetgrass Aboriginal Head Start offers learning experiences for our children while recognizing parents and caregivers as the primary teachers.
Program activities address six components: Culture and Language, Health Promotion, Social Support, Parental and Family Involvement, Nutrition, and Education.
Each month a theme is acknowledged; a colour and the teaching, an animal and their teaching, and the moon and its teachings. Activities relate to the theme and focus on Concepts, Science, Language, and Emotional Health and well-being. Physical activity is part of the daily curriculum, as well as a Nutritional snack. Community partnerships and networking brings information and presentations to participating families.
Our program runs from September to June -Monday to Thursday. Our three-year-old children attend in the morning from 9–11:30 and the four-year-olds attend in the afternoon from 1–3:30.
We’re located in the Lower Level of the Flin Flon Aboriginal Friendship Centre.
