St. Laurent Aboriginal Head Start Program
Box 528, St. Laurent, MB
St. Laurent Aboriginal Head Start (Li P’Chite Mains) is a non-profit charitable organization started March 18, 2004. We are funded by Public Health Agency of Canada and sponsored through the St. Laurent Recreation Centre Inc.
We offer a morning and afternoon program for children 3 to 4 years old (Mon to Thurs) who are Metis, First Nations and Inuit who live in the surrounding communities. We provide a culturally based program to strengthen our Metis culture, language and community. We encourage active parent participation in the program and recognize the parents as the primary caregiver of the children. Our Head Start program consists of the following six components:
- Culture and Language
- Health Promotion
- Social Support
- Parental & Family Involvement
